5 Questions To Ask When Choosing A Homebuilder

You’ve made the decision to build your dream home — one that perfectly suits your lifestyle and will provide the ease of low maintenance for years to come. (Such a smart decision!) But now comes the hard part… choosing the right homebuilder. There are so many options — custom, semi-custom, or spec builders. 

When you select a builder, you are choosing a partner to lead you on a significant journey, one where communication is key. Having a home you’re happy with is the result of much more than just a financial transaction. It’s the result of a solid relationship. So how do you find the right one? 

Our best advice is to ask questions at every step of the journey. A trustworthy builder won’t mind answering them, and will always invite you to ask more. The more knowledgeable you are about the process, the smoother the experience in general. To help get you started, we’ve compiled 5 questions that our prospective homebuyers often ask when they are just beginning to do their research. We think they’re pretty good, so we wanted to share them with you. Of course, we provided our answers to these questions, but feel free to use them with any builder you are considering!

1) Where does your company build?

Regal Homes has been one of the premier homebuilders along the Wasatch Front and Wasatch Back for the past 29 years. We are currently building in Heber City, Cottonwood Heights, Park City, and Mapleton, Utah.

2) Can I tour a model or home under construction?

YES! You can tour any of our model homes or we can host you at a home construction site as long as it is safe to do so. There are phases of construction when only licensed tradesmen should be on site, so we will accommodate requests as long as the timing is right. If there’s a home under construction you’d like to visit, just let us know! We have several homes under construction that are available for immediate delivery as well.

3) To what extent can I personalize my home? 

Our floor plans come with a variety of options and upgrades. Plus we are willing and able to personalize your home. Check with one of our sales associates for specifics. 

4) Do you have testimonials from previous customers? 

YES! It’s important to us that you see the success that other homeowners have had, and whether or not they are satisfied with both the experience and the outcome. Regal Homes welcomes feedback from every customer once their home is complete. Ask to speak with a sales associate about our happy homeowners or visit us on social media where we feature our homeowners as well! 

5) What is the first step in the building process?

The journey begins with you signing a homesite hold agreement and submitting your deposit. This step includes loan approval, proof of funds & due diligence. Next, you sign a New Construction Agreement (NCA) and make a 3% Initial Construction Deposit. Within 7 days of signing the NCA, you’ll make your first visit to the Design Center for personalization ideas. Then, over the next month, you’ll have a series of personalization meetings with your Regal Homes Designer. After that, we get into the Pre-Construction and Construction phases!
