Getting Your Home Ready For Spring

Spring is just around the corner, so let’s give your home a face lift which will ensure you’ll be ready to relax & enjoy the warmer weather. Here’s a checklist to help you along the way.

Put Away Your Linens

It’s time to swap out your heavy quilts & blankets for lighter-weight bedding. Wash & dry all bedding before storing to avoid insects from being attracted to the body oils left on unwashed bedding.

Clean & Swap Out Your Lighting

Clean all light fixtures, both inside & outside of your home. Check for burnt-out bulbs & replace where needed. Make sure to check for correct wattage as a fire may result within a light fixture, wall, or ceiling if too high of a wattage is used.

Give Your Porch Some Love

Restore the luster of your door by polishing the knobs & hinges. Re-stain or re-paint your door with a color that stands out, yet also compliments the siding & trim, to give your home a new feel for Spring. Put out a new welcome mat to greet your guests, make sure your doorbell works, & place some flower pots outside your front door.

Clean Your Gutters And Downspouts

Grab your gloves to clean out all the leaves & debris from your gutters and downspouts. Reattach gutters that have pulled away from your house, and run a hose on your roof to make sure it’s draining properly. If any leaks exist, dry the area and use caulking or epoxy to seal the leak. Poor or improper draining may cause water damage to your home, and there’s a good chance you won’t notice the damage until an expensive repair is needed. Ensure downspouts are positioned to drain away from your home’s foundation to prevent a potential flood in your basement.
