Prepare Your Regal Home For Winter

We may be biased, but we think there’s no place on earth as beautiful as Utah in the wintertime. Especially around our Regal Homes communities, where the Wasatch Mountains sparkle beyond your backyard, the winter season is nothing short of magical. Before you head out to enjoy all of the world-class recreation you love outside your door — from skiing and snowboarding to hiking and sight-seeing — make sure to go through a quick checklist of ways to prepare your home for the new season. Here’s an easy reference for you to use:

Outside of Your Home

  • Clean gutters to prepare for freezing/thawing
  • Check for leaks in windows and roofs
  • Seal gaps and cracks around windows and doors with weather-stripping and caulk
  • Repair damaged roof shingles
  • Stock up on seasonal essentials like salt and ice melt
  • Cut trees and shrubs, especially if snowfall will cause them to bend against your home
  • Turn off exterior water and sprinklers
  • Close shut-off valves, then open the outside faucet to drain the line
  • Fix damaged walkways and steps
  • Store remaining outdoor furniture and children’s toys, and prep cold-weather tools

Inside of Your Home

  • Have the furnace inspected by a professional and replace filters
  • Clean dryer vents
  • Make sure the fireplace is thoroughly inspected

No matter how you plan on “soaking up the snow” this year, there are a few things you can do to ensure that no surprises interrupt your best moments. With proper preparation, you’ll be able to enjoy the season you look forward to all year! Best of all, after a day out exploring the wonders of your neighborhood and beyond, you’ll return to a home that’s safe and sound, with all of that winter coziness you know and love.

From all of us at Regal Homes, happy early winter!
